Use Your Passion to Help Others |
A group of Bay Area students from different high schools used their love of music to fight local hunger. Raama, Ajay, Geeta, Akshay, and Nitin formed RAGAn and organized a concert benefiting Second Harvest Food Bank. It was through their musical journey that they learned how prevalent hunger is in their community, inspiring them even more to make a difference.

The recipient of our McCown-Takalo Ending Hunger Advocacy Award, local hunger fighter Angela Waters runs two programs that serve 650 Daly City residents. When asked what inspires her to give, she replied, "It is difficult to be on the receiving end of services... I help because someone took the time to help me."

Through a writing course, Jessica gave local kids a chance to share their food stories. In her final blog post, she urges us to not only focus on the economic and scientific sides of food, but also on the role food plays in our lives. Watch a video featuring her students and read students' poetry.
