In der vergangenen Ferienzeit haben wir die Idee eingef\u00fchrt, dass \u201edas Gesicht des Hungers vertrauter ist als Sie denken\u201c, und herausgefordert, wie Menschen Hunger visualisieren. Unsere eigene Zia MacWilliams, Managerin der Federal Children&#039;s Nutrition Programs, hat diese Idee in einem fotojournalistischen Projekt mit ihrer Schwester Zel untersucht. Zia lie\u00df das Tonbandger\u00e4t in dieser lauten Umgebung stehen und schuf besondere Erinnerungen f\u00fcr ihre Interviewthemen. Durch das Brechen des Brotes konnte Zia pers\u00f6nliche Verbindungen kn\u00fcpfen, die f\u00fcr die Diskussion schwieriger Themen von entscheidender Bedeutung waren. W\u00e4hrend dieser Mahlzeiten erfuhr Zia, welche Pizzabel\u00e4ge Kinder bevorzugten, und diskutierte Fragen der Sucht und des Missbrauchs. Diese Beziehungen begannen mit Respekt und der Gro\u00dfz\u00fcgigkeit, ein besonderes Essen zu teilen. Natasha, Wafaa, Vanessa und Kristen unterst\u00fctzen ihre Familien, verlassen eine Religion oder \u00fcberleben einen missbr\u00e4uchlichen Haushalt. Sie zeigen, wie Hunger in einem breiteren Leben besteht. Vereinfachende Erz\u00e4hlungen halten Hunger f\u00fcr ein pers\u00f6nliches Versagen von Faulheit oder Unf\u00e4higkeit. Die Bilder der MacWilliams erinnern die Leser jedoch daran, wie sich der Hunger selbst auf die st\u00e4rksten und widerstandsf\u00e4higsten Menschen auswirkt. Die Tr\u00e4ne in Vanessas Gesicht, Wafaas Behauptung der St\u00e4rke und Kristen&#039;s Dankbarkeit zeigen, wie pers\u00f6nlich Hunger ist.
