Aber die durch die Pandemie verursachte finanzielle Verw\u00fcstung sowie die explodierenden Lebensmittel- und Gaspreise haben viele Einwohner des Silicon Valley gezwungen, Nahrungsmittelhilfe zu suchen.<\/p>\n<p>Diana und ihr Mann ziehen ihre f\u00fcnfk\u00f6pfige Familie, darunter Kaylee (14), Keyla (7) und Kendra (2), in ihrer Ein-Zimmer-Wohnung in San Jose gro\u00df, wo sie seit 10 Jahren leben. Als die Anordnungen zur Unterbringung vor Ort in Kraft traten, war Dianas Ehemann vier Monate lang arbeitslos und sie konnten ihre Miete nicht bezahlen.<\/p>\n<p>Ihr Auto war bereits w\u00e4hrend der Unterbringung vor Ort von den Einkommensverlusten betroffen, dann ging ihr Auto kaputt und sie konnten sich keine Reparaturen leisten. Diana sch\u00e4mte sich, die Hilfe ihrer Freunde anzunehmen, und wenn sie nicht auf \u00f6ffentliche Verkehrsmittel angewiesen war, ging sie zu Fu\u00df, um ihre Kinder dorthin zu bringen, wo sie hin mussten \u2013 so sehr, dass sie immer mehr abnahm.<\/p>\n<p>Diana begann Anfang 2022 mit dem Besuch einer begehbaren kostenlosen Lebensmittelverteilung von Second Harvest in San Jose, als das Sparen unm\u00f6glich wurde. Ihr Mann bringt in den Wintermonaten aufgrund von Regen weniger Geld als Dachdecker nach Hause, sodass die Familie auch auf CalFresh-Leistungen und Dianas Teilzeitjob angewiesen ist, um \u00fcber die Runden zu kommen.<\/p>\n<p>Diana ist dankbar, dass ihre Familie gesund ist und sie gemeinsam eine hausgemachte Mahlzeit genie\u00dfen k\u00f6nnen. W\u00e4hrend es in einigen Haushalten Tradition ist, sich w\u00e4hrend der Feiertage zu Hause mit ihren Lieben zu treffen, hofft Diana immer, dass ihre Familie zu einem Feiertagsessen in das Haus eines Freundes eingeladen wird. Mit f\u00fcnf Personen, die in einer Ein-Zimmer-Wohnung leben, ist nicht genug Platz, um G\u00e4ste zum Abendessen zu beherbergen oder sogar einen Weihnachtsbaum aufzustellen.
