In Silicon Valley \u2014 one of the wealthiest regions in the country \u2014 far too many neighbors still struggle to put food on the table. Today, 1 in 6 people in our community turns to Second Harvest each month for nutritious food and half are kids and seniors.<\/p>\n

Through changing economic conditions and policy uncertainty, one thing has remained constant: our community shows up. Second Harvest is here \u2014 steady, trusted and ready \u2014 ensuring families, seniors and children have reliable access to the food they need to thrive.<\/p>\n

Una breve historia<\/h2><\/div>

El Food Bank, Inc. del Condado de Santa Clara se form\u00f3 en 1974 por Oportunidades Econ\u00f3micas y Sociales, y se incorpor\u00f3 como una agencia sin fines de lucro en 1979. En 1988, el Banco de Alimentos del Condado de San Mateo se fusion\u00f3 con The Food Bank, Inc. del Condado de Santa Clara convertirse en el Banco de Alimentos Second Harvest de los condados de Santa Clara y San Mateo.<\/p>\n

En 1992, Second Harvest se mud\u00f3 a un nuevo almac\u00e9n de 65,000 pies cuadrados en San Jos\u00e9 que ahora es Curtner Center. En 1996, el Centro de Distribuci\u00f3n de la Pen\u00ednsula del Banco de Alimentos (Centro Bing) comenz\u00f3 a servir al Condado de San Mateo en un almac\u00e9n recientemente renovado de 22,000 pies cuadrados en San Carlos.
