Thank you for hosting a Food and Fund Drive! It's a fun and exciting way to bring your organization closer together to fight local hunger. Here's a guide to success.

Step 1: Plan

Set your Food and Fund Drive up for success by planning ahead! Create a goal for your group to reach one of our award levels, start a friendly competition, and have supplies delivered to your organization.

For tips on how to get started, download our Food Drive Coordinator Toolkit, specific to your type of group.

Step 2: Promote

One of the biggest keys to success is to get your colleagues, friends and family, co-workers, and group members involved. Make sure they know about your drive, the goal you are aiming to reach, and the impact they can have. Post on social media, send an email, and hang promotional materials around your office or school.

Step 3: Donate

BarrelsYou've done it — congratulations! Now you're ready to send your donations to the Food Bank to help feed hungry people. If you need to schedule or reschedule a pickup date for your collected food, contact or (866) 234-3663. All monetary donations can be mailed to Second Harvest Food Bank at 4001 North First Street, San Jose CA 95134, or dropped off at any of our three facilities listed here.

If you have collected cash or checks from individuals who would like receipts, please include this form with your donation.

Do you have TEAMS? Don't forget to label each food collection barrel with the team name.

Step 4: Wrap Up

You've rallied co-workers, inspired friends and family, and encouraged others all to make a difference in the lives of our community. Now it's time to thank your participants and celebrate your success! Send the results and photos, and share any special stories to all who participated.

Remember, every dollar you collected earns 2.5 points, and every pound of food earns 1 point toward your food drive award level. Watch for an invitation to our awards party in the spring.

Step 5: Get More Involved

Is your group looking to further your impact? There are many other ways you and your group can get involved.

  • Schedule a warehouse tour at one of our facilities
  • Bring your group in to volunteer at our warehouse — it's a great teambuilding activity!
