Notre cliente Colette utilise ses courses gratuites de Second Harvest pour se connecter avec son enfance p\u00e9ruvienne.<\/h3><\/div>

Colette est arriv\u00e9e dans la Bay Area au d\u00e9but des ann\u00e9es 2000 depuis sa Lima natale, au P\u00e9rou, avec deux jeunes enfants, une quantit\u00e9 modeste de bagages et un c\u0153ur plein de r\u00eaves, caract\u00e9ristique de ceux qui laissent tout derri\u00e8re eux dans l'espoir d'un avenir meilleur. Au d\u00e9but, le choc culturel \u00e9tait accablant, mais elle a rapidement commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 se faire des amis qui lui ont fourni un excellent r\u00e9seau de soutien, le confort de sourires accueillants et une place autour de la table.<\/p>\n

Beaucoup de ces nouveaux amis \u00e9taient d'origine mexicaine. Ils ont aid\u00e9 Colette et ses enfants \u00e0 naviguer dans les complexit\u00e9s d'un nouvel environnement et les ont expos\u00e9s \u00e0 de nouvelles traditions et de nouveaux go\u00fbts qu'elle a rapidement appris \u00e0 int\u00e9grer dans sa cuisine p\u00e9ruvienne. Colette a instinctivement commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 cr\u00e9er des recettes dans lesquelles elle a fusionn\u00e9 des ingr\u00e9dients, des m\u00e9thodes et des saveurs des deux cultures pour cr\u00e9er de d\u00e9licieux plats. A la table de Colette, il est normal de savourer des burritos et des tacos avec des ingr\u00e9dients p\u00e9ruviens comme l'aj\u00ed panca ou l'aj\u00ed mirasol.<\/p>\n

\u00ab Le piment jaune est une tradition andine et pour moi, il est important que mes enfants reconnaissent ces saveurs traditionnelles \u00bb, explique Colette.<\/p>\n

\u00catre une m\u00e8re c\u00e9libataire a apport\u00e9 des d\u00e9fis inattendus et de nombreuses d\u00e9penses. C'est pourquoi Colette visite depuis huit ans les garde-manger propos\u00e9s par Second Harvest of Silicon Valley. Elle affirme que la nourriture qu'elle a re\u00e7ue de Second Harvest lui permet d'offrir un menu nutritif et vari\u00e9 \u00e0 sa famille. Chaque mois, Colette re\u00e7oit des cartons de fruits, l\u00e9gumes, l\u00e9gumineuses, produits laitiers et c\u00e9r\u00e9ales. Elle trie soigneusement les aliments et les met dans son r\u00e9frig\u00e9rateur et son cong\u00e9lateur pour qu'ils durent plus longtemps.<\/p>\n

\u00c0 partir de ce qu'elle re\u00e7oit dans la bo\u00eete de la deuxi\u00e8me r\u00e9colte, Colette pr\u00e9pare le traditionnel aji de gallina, le lomo saltado, et un plat pr\u00e9f\u00e9r\u00e9 transmis par sa grand-m\u00e8re, la causa lime\u00f1a. Colette utilise \u00e9galement les recettes qui lui sont donn\u00e9es sur les sites d'\u00e9picerie gratuits et a assist\u00e9 \u00e0 des d\u00e9monstrations culinaires qui l'ont inspir\u00e9e \u00e0 cuisiner avec ce qu'elle re\u00e7oit de la banque alimentaire.<\/p>\n

Pour Colette, les plats p\u00e9ruviens sont un lien direct avec son enfance et ses grands-parents, qui ont eu une influence majeure sur son \u00e9ducation et son amour pour la cuisine traditionnelle p\u00e9ruvienne. Colette a laiss\u00e9 beaucoup de choses derri\u00e8re elle lorsqu'elle est venue vivre aux \u00c9tats-Unis. Cela a \u00e9t\u00e9 un processus d'adaptation et de croissance, et elle se sent tr\u00e8s fi\u00e8re d'avoir r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 transmettre \u00e0 ses grands enfants les saveurs et les traditions d'une culture qui, malgr\u00e9 la distance, aura toujours une place dans sa cuisine et son c\u0153ur.<\/p>\n
