Holiday Food and Fund Drive

Holiday Drive 2017

For many, the holidays are a time for festive gatherings, family traditions, and an overabundance of food. But for a growing number of families in Silicon Valley, the holidays are another time when there won't be enough nutritious food to eat.

Despite the enormous wealth in Silicon Valley, the stark reality is more people rely on Second Harvest for food today than ever before. The numbers didn't drop with the improving economy as you would expect, but instead have continued to rise. It's what we call the Silicon Valley hunger paradox.

We need your support this holiday season to ensure that local kids, families, and seniors have access to nutritious food during the holidays and all year long.

Join the growing network of people who are helping us build a hunger-free community — take action today:

Who We Are

Based in Silicon Valley, Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties is one of the largest food banks in the nation. Currently providing food to more than one quarter of a million people every month, Second Harvest is a trusted community-based organization that was founded in 1974. Despite the immense wealth in Silicon Valley, and partly due to the high cost of living, hunger and malnutrition are pervasive. The Food Bank distributes nutritious food, including fresh produce, through a network of 300 nonprofit partners at more than 905 sites. Second Harvest is pursuing innovative efforts to increase access to food resources as it seeks to feed more hungry people each month. To better serve clients, the Food Bank's team of nutritionists works in the community providing nutrition education, food tastings, and cooking demonstrations to help families eat healthier on a budget.
