We all know this year is different. The economic crisis has pushed many of our neighbors deeper into poverty and forced others to ask for food assistance for the first time.
Second Harvest is providing food to more of our neighbors than ever before – 500,000 people on average every month, double the number of people we were serving before to the pandemic. We changed how we distribute groceries in the community, shifting many of our sites to drive-thrus and dedicating more resources to our home delivery program serving homebound seniors. We doubled the amount of food sourced, secured temporary leases on new warehouses and expanded our transportation fleet.
This economic downturn will not be changing course any time soon. This September, we need your voice and time so that we can achieve our mission during these unprecedented times. Check out our Hunger Action Month Bingo Card for all the ways you can get involved.
