Vorige week redde de Voedselbank 6.294 pond bederfelijk voedsel uit een Target-winkel in San Jose die een stroomstoring had.<\/p>\n

Door onze Kruidenier redding<\/a> relatie met deze winkel wisten ze met wie ze contact moesten opnemen bij de Voedselbank om dit voedsel snel te behoeden voor afval. We ontvingen een grote verscheidenheid aan bederfelijke producten, waaronder vlees, diepvriesproducten, kaas en diverse zuivelproducten.<\/p>\n

Binnen een uur na ontvangst van de oproep reageerde onze afdeling Transport op dit speciale verzoek en kon een chauffeur en assistent naar de winkel sturen om de bederfelijke etenswaren voor onze klanten te verzamelen. Onze twee medewerkers brachten drie uur door in de winkel om bakken uit de schappen te laden. Ze controleerden de temperatuur van al het product om er zeker van te zijn dat het nog steeds veilig was om de producten te verdelen en sorteerden ze in categorie\u00ebn terwijl ze de bakken laadden.<\/p>\n

Deze geredde voedselproducten zouden verloren zijn gegaan zonder de reeds bestaande relatie tussen de Target-winkel en ons team, en de toewijding van ons personeel om uit te zoeken hoe deze onverwachte pick-up in hun reeds drukke schema's te passen. Onze klanten in gaarkeukens, schuilplaatsen en pantry's zullen binnenkort genieten van deze hoogwaardige zuivel-, vlees- en diepvriesproducten.<\/p>\n
