Dit jaar was het de 22e keer dat Delphi Academy een food drive heeft gehouden ten voordele van Second Harvest. Ons schoollogo heeft vier punten: kennis, leiderschap, ethiek en integriteit. Of studenten nu leren in de klas, een wetenschappelijk laboratorium, een kunststudio of op excursie of project, we streven ernaar dat ze deze punten opnemen in hun leerervaring. Dienstverlening aan de gemeenschap is een uitstekende manier voor studenten om te groeien en hun eigen verantwoordelijkheidsgevoel voor hun gemeenschap te ontwikkelen. Alle vaardigheden die nodig zijn om een voedseldrive te cre\u00ebren - zoals het aanmoedigen van anderen om deel te nemen, het verzamelen en afleveren van voedsel en het begrijpen wat er met de donatie bij Second Harvest gebeurt - helpen allemaal studenten om nieuwe vaardigheden op te bouwen op het gebied van leiderschap, organisatie, samenwerking en communicatie. Ze gaan ook beseffen wat een verschil ze voor anderen kunnen maken, zelfs op jonge leeftijd. Raad eens wie zich heeft aangemeld!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wanneer ben je begonnen met food drives voor Second Harvest?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Victoria:<\/strong> 1996 was mijn eerste food drive en ik hielp als ouder. In 1998 was ik zelf bij Delphi gaan werken als leraar en sindsdien heb ik de traditie voortgezet.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wat is je beste herinnering aan een voedselrit?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Victoria<\/strong>: Een jaar (2000) mocht mijn hele klas op de gigantische schaal staan en ze vonden het geweldig dat ze meer eten (in gewicht) hadden binnengebracht dan het totale gewicht van de hele klas. Vanaf dat moment werd het een traditie om het gewicht van onze donatie en het gewicht van onze klas in te schatten. We hebben altijd als doel gesteld meer te doneren dan het totale groepsgewicht.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hoe reageren de kinderen op hun deelname aan de voedselaandrijving?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Victoria<\/strong>: Overweldigend enthousiast. Wanneer de kinderen het eten brengen en de faciliteit bezoeken, ontmoeten ze gemeenschapsgerichte, professionele en zorgzame volwassenen die een goed voorbeeld geven en wiens toewijding blijkt. We hebben altijd kunnen rekenen op een uitstekende groei-ervaring voor de studenten, en het opent echt hun ogen voor wat er nodig is om voor zo velen van voedsel te voorzien. Ik waardeer ook dat Second Harvest erg schoon en georganiseerd is. Zelfs de laadkades zijn brandschoon! De kleuterschoolstudenten hebben al hun donaties te zien met hun naam boven hun eten. Het klaslokaal van de tweede klas is verdubbeld en vervolgens hun doel verdrievoudigd! Mevrouw Victoria overweegt ze mee te nemen naar Second Harvest om hun enorme bijdrage te erkennen.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a class=\"nturl\"
