Maar voor gezinnen die al moeite hebben om eten op tafel te krijgen met de hoge kosten van huisvesting in Silicon Valley, kunnen de zomermaanden bijzonder moeilijk zijn.<\/p>\n<p>Vier van de vijf Silicon Valley-kinderen die in aanmerking komen voor zomermaaltijdprogramma&#039;s doen niet mee, maar voedzaam eten is het hele jaar door van cruciaal belang - niet alleen voor een betere gezondheid en emotioneel welzijn, maar ook om de &#039;zomerglijbaan&#039; te vermijden waar voedselonzekere kinderen academisch terrein verliezen.<\/p>\n<p>Bij Second Harvest willen we ervoor zorgen dat gezinnen in onze gemeenschap ervoor kunnen zorgen dat hun kinderen tijdens de zomer genoeg te eten hebben. Er zijn meer dan 120 locaties in de provincies Santa Clara en San Mateo waar elk kind van 18 jaar of jonger een gratis lunch kan krijgen. Sommige sites bieden ook gratis ontbijt en een middagsnack, evenals goedkope maaltijden voor volwassen zorgverleners.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>Als je locaties bij jou in de buurt wilt zoeken, aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-2\"><p>Om meer mensen in contact te brengen met voedzaam voedsel, werkt Second Harvest samen met gemeenschapsleiders om meer kinderen in hun buurt te bereiken. Op vrijdag 14 juni bezochten we Debbie Austin, hoofdinspecteur Ayinde Rudolph en chef-kok Dalton van Mountain View Whisman School District, samen met de voorzitter van de Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors Joe Simitian, om de lancering te vieren van hun prachtige, gloednieuwe voedsel vrachtwagen.<\/p>\n<p>In Mountain View stelde Simitian financiering voor voor een nieuwe foodtruck die kinderen en hun gezinnen in het Mountain View Whisman School District gedurende de zomer en het hele schooljaar maaltijden zal brengen. De foodtruck, die het resultaat is van een samenwerking tussen Santa Clara County, het Mountain View Whisman School District en Second Harvest, zal het gemakkelijker maken om voedzaam, vers voedsel mee te nemen naar de wijken en parken waar mensen samenkomen.<\/p>\n<p>Leslie Bacho, CEO van Second Harvest:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>\u201cEr is genoeg voedzaam voedsel voor iedereen, maar de uitdaging is om het in handen te krijgen van de mensen die het nodig hebben. Honger kan verwoestende gevolgen hebben voor kinderen, dus we richten ons op het vergroten van zowel het bewustzijn van als de toegankelijkheid van gratis zomermaaltijden. Door samen te werken met onze gemeenschapspartners, hebben we goede vooruitgang geboekt bij het vergroten van de deelname, maar we weten ook dat er meer moet gebeuren. \u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Met een in het oog springend exterieur en een eersteklas interieur, zal chef-kok Dalton - een beetje een beroemdheid in het schooldistrict - een innovatieve manier bieden voor kinderen om gemakkelijk toegang te krijgen tot gezond, aantrekkelijk voedsel, en stopt bij scholen en nabijgelegen parken. Dit lost dus beide problemen op. \u201d Het evenement was oprecht dankbaar en we zijn verheugd om met de gemeenschap samen te werken om de honger op te lossen.<\/p>\n<p><a
