De aanzienlijke toename van de vraag als gevolg van de pandemie heeft ons geleerd over de elasticiteit van onze distributiecapaciteit. We bedienden gemiddeld 250.000 mensen per maand en dachten dat we aan onze limieten werkten. Maar binnen enkele weken hebben we onze activiteiten geherstructureerd en versterkt om elke maand gemiddeld 500.000 mensen te kunnen bedienen<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Een van de belangrijkste redenen waarom we tijdens de pandemie meer mensen van dienst hebben kunnen zijn, is omdat: we bieden nu voorverpakte dozen aan bij drive-thru supermarktdistributies, waardoor we meer mensen zeer effici\u00ebnt kunnen bedienen<\/strong>. Wanneer de pandemie voorbij is en we kunnen terugkeren naar distributies in boerenmarktstijl, verwachten we dat we verschillende van de 130 drive-thrus zullen blijven draaien. Er zijn veel mensen die van de ervaring en het gemak van dit soort distributie houden.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Naast de toegenomen vraag kwamen we er al snel achter dat veel senioren door de pandemie niet op hun gemak naar buiten gingen om eten te halen. Ze vroegen ons om eten bij hen thuis te brengen, dus we hebben ons thuisbezorgprogramma snel uitgebreid \u2014 we leveren nu aan meer dan 5.000 huishoudens per maand<\/strong>. We hebben ook pandemie-specifieke bezorgservices toegevoegd, dus als iemand ons belt en zegt dat een persoon in zijn huishouden positief is getest op COVID en hij of zij zijn huis niet uit kan, zullen we eten voor hem afgeven zodat hij veilig toegang heeft tot voedzame boodschappen doen tijdens het isoleren.<\/p>\n

Vanessa, een alleenstaande moeder, nam contact met ons op voor onmiddellijke hulp bij de thuisbezorging toen zij en haar 11-jarige zoon tegelijkertijd COVID hadden.<\/p>\n

Vanwege de economische situatie als gevolg van opvang ter plaatse, hebben we veel mensen aangetrokken die in het verleden nooit hebben overwogen om voedselhulp te krijgen. Ik denk dat dat zal blijven gebeuren. We hebben het afgelopen jaar veel gedaan om de ervaring zo goed mogelijk te maken voor de mensen die naar ons toe komen voor hulp.
