Maar de financi\u00eble verwoesting veroorzaakt door de pandemie, samen met torenhoge voedsel- en gasprijzen, hebben veel inwoners van Silicon Valley gedwongen om voedselhulp te zoeken.<\/p>\n<p>Diana en haar man brengen hun gezin van vijf, waaronder Kaylee (14), Keyla (7) en Kendra (2), groot in hun appartement met \u00e9\u00e9n slaapkamer in San Jose, waar ze de afgelopen 10 jaar hebben gewoond. Toen de bevelen ter plaatse van kracht werden, was Diana&#039;s man vier maanden werkloos en konden ze hun huur niet betalen.<\/p>\n<p>Ze waren al aan het bijkomen van het inkomensverlies tijdens de opvang, maar hun auto ging kapot en ze waren niet in staat om reparaties te betalen. Diana schaamde zich om hulp van haar vrienden te accepteren, dus toen ze niet afhankelijk was van het openbaar vervoer, liep ze te voet om haar kinderen te brengen waar ze heen moesten - zo erg zelfs dat ze steeds meer begon af te vallen.<\/p>\n<p>Diana begon begin 2022 een gratis boodschappendistributie van Second Harvest te bezoeken in San Jose, toen geld besparen onmogelijk werd. Haar man brengt in de wintermaanden minder geld mee naar huis als dakdekker vanwege de regen, dus het gezin vertrouwt ook op CalFresh-uitkeringen en Diana&#039;s parttime baan om hen te helpen rond te komen.<\/p>\n<p>Diana is dankbaar dat haar gezin gezond is en dat ze samen een huisgemaakte maaltijd kunnen delen. Hoewel het voor sommige huishoudens een traditie is om thuis met geliefden samen te komen tijdens de feestdagen, hoopt Diana altijd dat haar familie wordt uitgenodigd bij een vriend thuis voor een vakantiemaaltijd. Met vijf mensen die in een appartement met \u00e9\u00e9n slaapkamer wonen, is er niet genoeg ruimte om gasten te ontvangen of zelfs een kerstboom op te zetten.
