Voedselonzekerheid heeft hier altijd bestaan, maar is vandaag de dag nog nijpender, waardoor meer gezinnen, studenten en senioren moeilijke keuzes moeten maken als het gaat om hun voedselbudget. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Volgens een cli\u00ebntenonderzoek uit januari 2024 heeft de meerderheid van de mensen die afhankelijk zijn van Second Harvest voor voedselhulp moeite om elke maand rond te komen. Cli\u00ebnten meldden dat:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Nearly 60% of respondents have less than $100 in savings.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>More than 60% of respondents are worried about their ability to pay their rent or mortgage next month.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>More than 90% of respondents report their financial situation is the same or worse than it was a year ago.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Deze resultaten illustreren hoe uitdagend de tijden zijn voor veel van onze buren en zijn verder bewijs van hoe de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shfb.org\/impact\/blog\/silicon-valleys-low-unemployment-rate-hides-a-cost-of-living-crisis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">crisis in de kosten van levensonderhoud<\/a> in Silicon Valley zorgt ervoor dat veel mensen, zelfs degenen die werken, hun huur niet kunnen betalen en toch geen eten op tafel kunnen zetten.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&quot;Onze duurste rekeningen zijn huur en nutsvoorzieningen. Onze huur gaat nu elk jaar flink omhoog. Het is net alsof ze hetzelfde willen vragen als andere appartementengebouwen in de buurt. We deden het prima voordat ze de prijzen gingen verhogen.
