Second Harvest of Silicon Valley has elected four new board members who bring a diverse set of skills and backgrounds to the food bank as it continues to face unprecedented need. The pandemic has created new challenges as a record number of people have turned to Second Harvest for food. Today Second Harvest serves an average of nearly 450,000 people every month – 80% more than pre-pandemic levels.
“We are excited to welcome these new board members, who bring a range of expertise,” said Leslie Bacho. “Their diverse backgrounds offer different perspectives that will help to guide us as we work to ensure that everyone in Silicon Valley has access to nutritious food. We want our board to bring expertise that is critical to helping us fulfill our mission and to reflect the diversity of the community we serve.”
Dr. Adriana Porter Felt is a Director of Engineering at Google. She joined the Chrome team nine years ago as a security engineer when it was still a browser supported by a small team. Over the years, she has been responsible for key parts of the browser as Chrome scaled up to billions of users. Today, she manages Chrome’s Data Science, Content, and iOS teams. She is best known externally for her software security work, earning her recognition as one of MIT Technology Review’s Innovators Under 35. As the daughter of an immigrant mother and a graduate of the Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley Latino Board Leadership Academy, Adriana is particularly passionate about issues that affect the Latinx community. To deepen her knowledge of sustainable nutrition, Adriana is currently working on a certificate in Sustainable Food and Farming at the UMass Stockbridge School of Agriculture.
Dr. Jamillah Moore is Vice President for Student Affairs & Enrollment Management at San Francisco State University. Previously, Moore served as the president of Cañada College in Redwood City. A prominent social justice advocate and higher education leader, she is recognized as an advocate for educational access and equity with a focus on student success. She serves on the board of directors for the Redwood City Chamber of Commerce and the Parent Institute for Quality Education. She is a member of a number of organizations, including the American Association of Community Colleges, Lakin Institute for Mentored Leadership, Western Region Council of Black American Affairs, National Council on Black American Affairs, and she is the former vice-chair for the California Student Aid Commission. She has been actively involved with Second Harvest’s food distributions at College of San Mateo.
Dr. Lisa Goldman Rosas is an assistant professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Population Health and the Department of Medicine’s Primary Care and Population Health division in the Stanford School of Medicine. An epidemiologist by training, Dr. Goldman Rosas leverages her expertise in patient and community engagement as well as behavioral science to address inequities in chronic diseases such as diabetes, depression and cancer. She was recently awarded funding to collaborate with Second Harvest’s nutrition team on a study focused on food insecurity and chronic disease prevention. She is passionate about integrating patients, caregivers, community organizations and other key stakeholders in the research process to affect the greatest improvements in health equity.
티나 순세리 is an audit partner at Deloitte and has over 15 years of experience serving publicly held and privately owned clients in the technology industry. She specializes in hardware and software companies, and has experience serving both large, complex publicly held technology companies and fast-growing, venture-backed, development-stage companies in Silicon Valley. She has extensive experience advising companies on controls and process improvements, revenue recognition, mergers and acquisitions, and new and emerging accounting topics. She is a first-generation immigrant from Vietnam and is looking forward to working with Second Harvest and the communities it serves.
