Have SSI? Apply for CalFresh
Effective summer 2019, a new rule allows many with SSI (Supplemental Security Income) to qualify for CalFresh.
If you get SSI benefits, you can now apply for CalFresh. Applying for CalFresh will not affect your SSI benefits.
CalFresh EBT cards can be used to buy groceries at participating stores and farmers’ markets. Receive up to $192 a month for a household of one, and up to $353 a month for a household of two.
Easier application process
- Application interview can be done via phone or in person.
- Complete the two-page application just once a year.
- Recertify every three years without an interview.
Verification needed includes
- Identification: driver’s license or government ID, Social Security numbers
- Income
- Residency
- SSI payments
