Richard Svec

Richard Svec has been an insurance broker for more than 40 years, providing insurance and bonding services primarily to clients in the construction, property development and property ownership fields. He is currently Senior Vice President at Alliant Insurance Services, Inc., where he has worked since 2016. Prior to that, he was at Aon Corporation for 38 years, which purchased Alexander and Alexander, where he was working at the time.

Richard earned bachelor’s degrees in business and history from Saint Mary’s College in Moraga. After graduating, he served in the Coast Guard before joining the team at Fireman’s Fund in 1965, his first job in the insurance business. He has been married for more than 50 years and enjoys playing golf and tennis, as well as a nice glass of wine.

Richard has been volunteering for Second Harvest of Silicon Valley for more than 30 years, joining the Finance Committee in 1992. At that time, the food bank was serving 50,000 people every month. For 24 of the last 30 years, he has served on the Second Harvest Board, with his latest term beginning in 2017. He was Board Chair from 1998 to 2000. He got involved because he thinks food is the most basic and important need. Richard was proud to see how Second Harvest was able to completely retool to handle the massive increase in need during the pandemic.
