In Silicon Valley — one of the wealthiest regions in the country — far too many neighbors still struggle to put food on the table. Today, 1 in 6 people in our community turns to Second Harvest each month for nutritious food and half are kids and seniors.

Through changing economic conditions and policy uncertainty, one thing has remained constant: our community shows up. Second Harvest is here — steady, trusted and ready — ensuring families, seniors and children have reliable access to the food they need to thrive.

Die Food Bank, Inc. aus Santa Clara County wurde 1974 von Economic and Social Opportunities gegründet und 1979 als gemeinnützige Agentur gegründet. 1988 fusionierte die San Mateo County Food Bank mit der Food Bank, Inc. aus Santa Clara County Second Harvest Food Bank der Grafschaften Santa Clara und San Mateo zu werden.

1992 bezog Second Harvest ein neues 65.000 Quadratmeter großes Lagerhaus in San Jose, das heute das Curtner Center ist. Im Jahr 1996 begann das Peninsula Distribution Center (Bing Center) der Food Bank, San Mateo County in einem neu renovierten 22.000 Quadratmeter großen Lagerhaus in San Carlos zu bedienen. Im Jahr 2012 eröffnete Second Harvest das Cypress Center in North San Jose, verdoppelte seinen Betrieb und stellte eine eigene Vertriebsanlage für Produkte zur Verfügung.

Im Jahr 2019 änderte die Organisation ihren Namen in Second Harvest of Silicon Valley und bedient weiterhin alle Grafschaften von Santa Clara und San Mateo.
